Join us for a lively presentation on what’s new in HTML5. An emphasis will be on how to get started right now in today’s Web environment with boiler plates, ‘shivs’ and ‘modernizr’. Ken will cover topics such as the new semantic tags, the many new form controls, audio and video, the canvas control, embedded fonts, and geolocation. We’ll take a look at the history of HTML and the two HTML5 specifications that define the new language standards.

Became interested in technology in the late 80s while taking college courses majoring in Business Administration. One of the required courses was introduction to computers where I was first introduced to databases (dBase), spreadsheets (Lotus 1-2-3), word processors (WordStar), and programming (BASIC). I became enamored with anything having to do with microcomputers and quickly changed my major to Computer Information Systems.
My heart is in programming but I wear many hats ranging from troubleshooting hardware, connecting devices, administering networks, administering databases, creating and maintaining websites, to developing software programs for the standalone computer as well as for the enterprise. My current job title is ‘Applications Programmer’ where I spend most of my time creating reports (SSRS and BIRT) and not much programming – not as much as I’d like.
